3. Don't act in isolation.

4. Think beyond the immediate crisis to the long-term.

5. Bear in mind the expertise of local organizations.

6. Find out how prospective grantees operate.

7. Be accountable to those you are trying to help.

8. Communicate your work widely, and use it as an educational tool.

CAF- Russia Fund for Beslan Victims

Last Updated October 2004

In response to the recent tragic terrorist attack at a school in Beslan, Charities Aid Foundation - Russia (CAF-Russia) has set up the Beslan Lifeline Appeal, a fund to support local Russian hospitals and non-profit organizations already working in Beslan.  Funds will be used to support the immediate and long-term needs of families affected by the tragedy.  CAF-Russia is one of the few Russian organizations with a formal infrastructure in place to process international donations.  Charities Aid Foundation, headquartered in the United Kingdom provided an initial funding of approximately $71,940 from its International Emergency Fund.  U.S. foundations or individuals interested in contributing to the Beslan Lifeline Appeal may do so through CAF America, a U.S.-Based 501 (c) 3 public charity.

Use the attached CAF America Gift Form or contact CAF America directly at (703) 549-8931 for more information.
